Sensational Inclusion Play-Based Social Groups
At Sensational Inclusion, we offer play-based social groups designed for individuals with developmental disabilities. Through engaging, playful activities, we create an environment where participants can build social and communication skills while having fun.
Who This Group Is For
This social group is perfect for children who:
- Have selective mutism and need a supportive space to build confidence in communicating with others.
- Possess higher cognitive abilities but may struggle with the nuances of social interactions.
- Have lower support needs yet benefit from structured, guided opportunities to develop social skills in a comfortable and affirming setting.
These play-based groups are designed for children who thrive in smaller, carefully structured settings, where they can learn and grow socially at their own pace, using activities that tap into their interests and strengths.
What We Do: A Play-Based Approach
Our social groups are grounded in the Social Thinking framework, but we use play as the primary tool for learning. By incorporating playful, interactive activities, we help participants:
- Develop Social Skills: Play creates a natural and low-pressure environment for participants to practice interactions, helping them learn how to communicate, take turns, and navigate social cues.
- Build Confidence: For children with selective mutism, play offers a non-intimidating way to express themselves, slowly increasing their comfort level with social communication.
- Encourage Cognitive and Emotional Growth: Our activities are designed to match participants’ cognitive abilities while offering opportunities for emotional regulation and social engagement. Whether through role-playing, sensory-based games, or collaborative projects, children learn in ways that feel natural and enjoyable.

My son once dreaded reading, but now he looks forward to his sessions at Sensational Inclusion and cherishes his reading time. His progress has been remarkable, catching up to his peers and developing a genuine love for books. Sensational Inclusion transformed reading from a chore into a gateway to worlds of imagination and knowledge.

Sensational Inclusion transformed my daughter's attitude towards reading by infusing joy and playfulness into learning. Initially hesitant, she now eagerly attends every session. Previously labeled as not a "reader" by her school, their nurturing approach helped her become a confident, grade-level reader who always has a book in hand and applies the strategies they taught her effectively.
